Inside the Garage
Cars, trucks and bikes from the prized collections of our neighbors, friends and customers are featured at the north end of the garage. A brief description of each vehicle tells a story of its history. Displays are changed every 3 to 4 weeks. All of the automobile memorabilia on the showroom dining area walls are original to Baum Chevrolet in the 50’s and 60’s. The overhead door entrance at the showroom dining area was the same door used at the Chevrolet-Buick dealership when Richard Baum came to Clinton in 1964. A replica of a Texaco Gas Station stands above the door. Arthur Baum owned and operated this gas station in Carlock while servicing and selling new Chevrolet’s until 1969. Come see the old-fashion gas pumps...still advertising gas for 26 and 35 cents a gallon!
Our Riviera Room is modeled after a what a new car dealership might have looked like in the '50's and '60's. Its inspiration came from the showroom of Arthur Baum's dealership in Carlock, Illinois. The color scheme of both the restaurant and showroom represent the colors that were used at the mechanical shop in Clinton and automobile showrooms during the Carlock era. Pictures lining the walls of Ted’s Garage are reminiscent of the original buildings and businesses of Clinton and the surrounding area. These pictures were found by local residents of Clinton and duplicated for reminiscing. Just about everything you see in the restaurant has a story, and we invite you to come and share yours!
